ATTENTION HIGH SCHOOL and AP HUMAN GEOGRAPHY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE TEACHERS
The Morpho Institute is partnering with GISetc to incorporate the themes of HS/AP Geography and Environmental Science into our 2025 Amazon Research Initiative for Educators (ARIE).
Next summer, we will pilot a new research project, incorporating elements of human geography. In partnership with the indigenous Maijuna, we will focus on their struggle against a proposed highway that would bisect the Maijuna Kichwa Regional Conservation Area.
The ARIE geography team will review the status of this proposed highway, interview key stakeholders, and create a case study for use by U.S. students, who also will analyze highway projects and associated dilemmas in typical U.S. communities.
