Connecting Education to Global Action for Nature
The Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) is the world’s plan to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030. It calls for action across every sector—including education—to build the knowledge, skills, and values needed to live in harmony with nature.
At the Morpho Institute, we believe teachers are critical to this mission. When educators understand the science and stories behind the GBF, they can empower their students to see themselves as part of the solution.
That’s why we’re launching a new initiative to align our conservation education programs with the Global Biodiversity Framework—connecting classroom learning to global action for nature.
Our Commitment
Through this initiative, we are:
- Bridging conservation and education. We’re mapping our professional development programs—like the Educator Academy in the Amazon and the Amazon Research Initiative for Educators—to the GBF goals and targets.
- Translating global goals into classroom practice. We help educators connect the GBF to inquiry-based, place-based learning that inspires local stewardship and global citizenship.
- Building educator capacity. Workshops, webinars, and new curriculum resources will help teachers integrate biodiversity and sustainability across subjects and grade levels.
- Fostering collaboration. We’re working alongside scientists, Indigenous partners, and conservation organizations to ensure education supports real, measurable conservation outcomes.
Partnering to Mobilize Education for the GBF
Morpho is proud to collaborate with the International Union for Conservation of Nature Commission on Education and Communication (IUCN CEC), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), The Climate Initiative (TCI), and other leading conservation organizations on Learning for Life: Mobilizing Education for the Global Biodiversity Framework.
This global partnership unites leading conservation and education organizations around a shared vision: to make biodiversity education a driving force in achieving the GBF’s goals.
The NEW Learning for Life Guidance document equips educators, NGOs, and policymakers with tools to:
Integrate biodiversity learning into all forms of education and outreach.
Build capacity for educators as changemakers for nature.
Strengthen global collaboration between the education and conservation sectors.
Support Target 21 of the GBF—ensuring that people everywhere have the knowledge and skills to live in harmony with nature.
Through this collaboration, the Morpho Institute represents a bridge between classroom educators and the global conservation community—translating high-level policy into meaningful learning experiences that inspire real-world action.
